Farewell Vistara! Book your tickets by Sept 3 for flights until Nov 11
Merger of Vistara with Air India: On November 11, Vistara will operate its last flight, and all upcoming reservations will be transferred to Air India. After that day, Vistara will no longer accept flight reservations.
Passengers are facing a rare window of opportunity as Vistara and Air India get ready for their much anticipated merger. As the integration is expected to be completed soon, passengers can reserve seats on flights only through September 3 for travel through November 11.
“Vistara and Air India are all set to take the next significant step in their integration journey,” stated Vistara in an official statement. Customers will gradually lose the ability to make reservations with Vistara for travel on or after November 12, 2024, beginning on September 3, 2024. Bookings and regular flights will be accepted by Vistara until November 11, 2024.
India recently approved a $276 million investment from Singapore Airlines Ltd into the newly merged airline, removing the last remaining obstacle to the merger of Air India and Vistara.
November 11 will mark Vistara’s last flight, the airline has confirmed. All Vistara aircraft will be taken over by Air India after this date, and reservations for these flights will be moved to Air India’s website.
“As we progress further in our growth journey, we want to emphasize that this merger is about offering them more choice with a larger fleet and a wider network, while elevating the overall travel experience,” said Vinod Kannan, chief executive officer of Vistara, in response to a statement from the company expressing gratitude for the customer support provided over the previous ten years. Vistara and Air India are dedicated to facilitating a seamless and trouble-free move. We are eager to welcome our clients back as Air India and are thrilled about this new chapter in our journey.
How will your “Club Vistara” points be affected?
Club Vistara, Vistara’s frequent flyer program, would eventually be discontinued and combined with Air India’s Flying Returns program as a result of the merger. Club Vistara will continue to run normally until the transfer is finished.
Following the merger, Singapore Airlines will invest more than Rs 2,000 crore to acquire a 25.1% share in the merged Air India. As the merger moves forward, the airline promised to provide consumers with regular information via email, social media, and the websites for Vistara and Air India.
Following conditional clearance from Singapore’s competition authority, the CCCS, in March, the merger was approved by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) in June.
The merger was also approved by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) in September 2023, subject to certain conditions.
