"Barry Stanton" account suspended by X following Indians' indignation over racial posts
Hundreds of angry Indians flagged Barry Stanton’s posts, and several of them called out Elon Musk for not suspending the account. This led to the action that transpired.

Barry Stanton (@barrystantonGBP), an anonymous social media user who gained notoriety for his racist remarks and outbursts disparaging Indians and Indian immigrants, had his X handle suspended on Friday. Hundreds of angry Indians highlighted Stanton’s posts, prompting action. Some even criticized X owner Elon Musk for not removing the account.
Memes and heated discussion about the account’s suspension erupted on X. On Friday morning, one of the top trends on X was the hashtag “suspended”.
Stanton, who has over 1.8 lakh followers on his verified handle, has posted a number of memes and cartoons showing people in India urinating in public. He also gave X’s piece on how to keep Indians out of “white neighborhoods” high marks.
The user has additionally tweeted a number of derogatory and nasty tweets directed towards Africans and Jews. One of his posts asked, “Why do Black people think comedy is just loud people shouting?”
Akshit Singh, an X user, tweeted that he had reported the Barry Stanton account to the UK High Commission in India as well as Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting. He requested that the actions of the ‘Barry Stanton’ X account be looked into.
“This account has been engaging in the propagation of hate speech and offensive remarks that target individuals based on race and nationality,” his complaint stated.
A different commenter said, “The gates of hell have been opened by Musk.” In fact, it has been demonstrated that racist tweets about Indians are being promoted by the present Twitter algorithm.”
BARRY STANTON: WHO IS SHE?
According to Barry Stanton’s bio on X, he is a father of five children and a British national. A UK website reported that the images on Stanton‘s account are not of him, but rather of a retired Worcestershire man.
Unexpectedly, the X account has been sharing offensive material for a number of years, and it has received thousands of likes and retweets.
Almost 4,000 people retweeted one of his X tweets, which read, “Just picked my lad up from school.” He claims that at religion class, he was made to read the Korma.”
“Barry Stanton is not real, at least not in the sense that many on Twitter would have you believe. The investigation stated, “The account is a parody, created either by a liberal ridiculing the racists they detest or by a real racist using humor to spread their views while hiding behind someone else’s face.”
