Wayanad Landslides: Today in Kerala’s Wayanad district, monsoon rains caused landslides that resulted in the deaths of at least 43 people.
NewDelhi: In Kerala‘s Wayanad, monsoon rains caused landslides that resulted in at least 43 fatalities today. Along with locals helping with the rescue effort and official organizations like the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), hundreds more people were believed to be trapped.
To assist with the continuing rescue operations, a team comprising forty-three Indian Army men has been mobilized.
Rescue attempts at the Wayanad district catastrophe site have been hindered by the collapse of a crucial bridge.

The early morning avalanche in Wayanad created a path of devastation, destroying multiple houses, swelled water bodies, and uprooted trees.
Many people are stranded in the charming villages of Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha because they are cut off from other locations.

In order to evaluate the situation, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan visited the State Disaster Management Authority office in Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital, and conducted a high–level appraisal meeting.
District officials report that a number of households have been relocated following the landslides to different camps or relatives’ residences.
