1 person from a Pune family goes missing . On Sunday afternoon, four members of a family—three of them were children—drowned in a waterfall behind the Bhushi Dam in Lonavala. Up until Monday morning, one more family member—a minor—was still absent.

The family from Pune’s Hadapsar neighborhood had gone to Lonavala for a picnic, according to the police.

Three bodies were found during a rescue effort conducted by the Pune rural police, INS Shivaji, and members of the “Shivdurg Mitra Mandal”: Ameena Salman, alias Adil Ansari (13), her sister Umera Salman, alias Adil Ansari (8), and a woman named Shahista Liyakat Ansari (37).

The cops discovered the body of nine-year-old Mariya Akil Sayyad on Monday morning. Adnan Sabhahat Ansari, 4, on the other hand, was still missing

.
According to authorities, each victim is a resident of Hadapsar’s Sayyad Nagar neighborhood.

According to the police, on Sunday, roughly eighteen people from the families of Yunus Khan and Liyakat Ansari, who live in the Hadapsar neighborhood of Pune, traveled to Lonavala for a picnic.

They visited the waterfall that is situated behind the Bhushi Dam in the interior. Police believe there was less water flow at first. However, the waterfall torrent gained pace from the intense rain, and at around 3 p.m., ten people were swept away.

Five of them were reportedly saved, but the other five were washed away into the reservoir that connected the dam water, according to the police.

Locals and police officers on duty attempted to assist them. However, the water currents quickly grew to such a height that they swept into the water stream.

“The deceased and their relatives, some of whom are residents of Pune, had come to Lonavala in a private vehicle for a picnic,” stated Inspector Suhas Jagtap of the Lonavala municipal police station. As several of them were having fun in the water stream, the water’s flow unexpectedly rose. As a result, they were carried away.

Monday morning saw the continuation of the search.

The three deceased individuals’ bodies were brought to a hospital for a postmortem examination. On social media, a fictitious video purporting to show the victims gliding away with the waterfall stream has appeared.

According to the police, the Indian Railways and Forest Department are in charge of the area where the event occurred.

Police said that in order to prevent similar events in the future, preventive measures would be implemented in the area with the assistance of the forest department and railways.

While enjoying the rain, police have urged the public to stay out of risky areas and to cooperate with law enforcement and government representatives who are on duty at tourist attractions.
